HOW MUCH ARE you willing to sacrifice for love? And how long are you willing to wait?

WHEN RUBY’S HUSBAND is sentenced to eight years in prison, Ruby decides to quit medical school and dedicate all of her time to helping him survive the violent life of a California prison. Her whole being is put to the test when she is confronted by the shame, guilt and sadness of separation that comes with being a prison wife. Ruby is torn by the choice of staying by her husband’s side or moving on with her life.

DIRECTOR AVA DUVERNAY has created a true indie gem, portraying how a young woman maintains, discovers, and develops herself while going through life-changing difficulties. The film presents a different kind of prison story – one about love, loyalty and the emotional effects of having to face circumstances that you have not chosen yourself. Partly thanks to its splendid acting, »Middle of Nowhere« is overflowing with both hope and warmth.
