It has been 25 years since the first of ten TV- films about criminal detective Roland Hassel was released. Based on author Olov Svedelin’s famous character, director Måns Månsson makes his feature debut with »Roland Hassel«, with Lars-Erik Berenett, as in the previous films, portraying the now retired private detective. Set in present day, the film focuses on the murder of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme in 1986, a case that still remains unsolved. The prize money of SEK50 million acts as an added catalyst for Hassel to solve the case.
Månsson breathes new life into the 1980’s cult character Roland Hassel. A hybrid of fiction and documentary, the innovative stylistics of the film adds authenticity to both its characters and story. As the final film in the Hassel series, »Roland Hassel« makes a memorable impression that should fulfill audience expectations – in Sweden and beyond.
