Oded is a Ph.D candidate who lives a life of routine, with his wife, the architect Tami. One day he forgets something at home and returns to his house at a time when he usually is not there. Suddenly everything, from the regular staircase to Tami, appears new and he observes his house through the eyes of a stranger. His new behavior is nearly childlike and Oded becomes obsessed with the sensation of watching his life out of context.

Director Eran Kolirin gained overnight success and unanimous praise from the critics for his »The Band’s visit«. This is something entirely different, though, »The Exchange« depicts a small-scale revolution from everyday routine. Together with neighbor Yoav, Oded watches his beige world with accelerating astonishment. Oded finds himself increasingly estranged from the world, his house and Tami. Yoav and Oded’s on screen chemistry provides a comical dimension to this slow placed, life-affirming piece.
