Ever since Doug's and Lois' teenage daughter got killed eight years ago, the couple has grown apart. Lois suffers from panic attacks and is afraid of leaving the house. Doug, on the other hand, cannot bear staying at home for too long. He decides to go on a business trip to Louisiana and meets 16-year-old Mallory, who is employed at a strip club. This it where the story takes motion, and director Jake Scott manages to touch the viewers' hearts with several strong scenes. Gandolfini does an excellent job as the depressed husband in this story, and Melissa Leo successfully backs him up as the paranoid other half. Kristen Stewart has taken a great leap of faith when agreeing to play the complex character Mallory. It seems to have been a risk worth taking since she passes with flying colors. Her role in this movie is probably the most challenging of her career as of yet, showing promise of many good things to come.
