Awards

With its 7,3 kilos the Bronze Horse is the worlds heaviest award and consists of eight seperate categories at the ceremonial gala of the Film Festival. There are 16 categories all in all.

Stockholm Lifetime Achievement Award: Harriet Andersson

An icon of femininity - adolescent Monika, lounging on a sun-drenched rock, her unbuttoned cardigan draped below her shoulders, eyes closed – sensual, self-assured and true. The oft reproduced photograph is not only one of the quintessential images of 50’s cinema, but neatly captures the first steps in the international career of one of Sweden's finest screen actresses. Harriet Andersson – a remarkable performer, combining disciplined clarity and sensual naturalism.

Stockholm Visionary Award: Gus Van Sant

Gus Van Sant was born in 1952 in Louisville, Kentucky and is one of modern cinema’s greatest American directors. He is known for his poetic vision and for his ability to get authentic and unforgettable performances out of his actors regardless if they are Hollywood stars as Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn or teenage amateurs.

Last year's success Festival on Demand and Telia Film Award, a cash prize to help quality films gain Swedish distribution, is back. This year the program also contains a swedish short film section where the nominees for the 1 km film-scholarship are screened in Telias digital-tv.

The Bronze Horse

Winners of the Bronze Horse are picked by a jury of ever present names from film and culture. The prize is awarded

FIPRESCI-jury

This jury consits of three film critics picked by the international association of film critics; FIPRESCI (Fédération Internationale de la Press Cinématographique). The jury selects one of the films from the competition section Competition as Best Film and also awards honorary prize to one of the remaining 20 films competing.

1 km film

The award of our 1 km film-competetition which each year goes to a young Swedish film maker grants the oppertunity to bring their film making to another level. The scholarship includes technical help in making a short by 1 km 35 mm undeveloped film, free developing and copying, one week renting a 35 mm video camera, sound, studio time but also grafic and special effects. Also the winner is given 100 000 kr by the Swedish Film Institute.

ifestival

The prize is awarded to a short from the ifestival section. The films are shown online for the duration of the Festival and the winner is decided by the audience who votes online.
