With its 7,3 kilos the Bronze Horse is the worlds heaviest award and consists of eight seperate categories at the ceremonial gala of the Film Festival. There are 16 categories all in all.
Stockholm Lifetime Achievement Award: Susan Sarandon

This year's Stockholm Lifetime Achievement Award goes to one of Hollywood's most courageous actresses. Susan Sarandon has always chosen her on path and made more than 60 movies, five Academy Award nominations and one win Politically active and environmentally aware Susan Sarandon is one of Hollywood's most beloved and headstrong actresses.Susan Sarandon recieves the Stockholm Lifetime Achievement Award on November 21 at the Skandia Theater.

 

Stockholm Visionary Award: Luc Besson

Luc Besson has just made a handful of films but with attributes ranging from noir aesthetics to grand-scale epics Besson knows no cinematic restrictions. Setting the standard for the personal action where the story always has priority over the explosions and gunfights. Luc Besson receives the Stockholm Visionary Award on november 26 at the Skandia Theater.

 

The Bronze Horse

Winners of the Bronze Horse are picked by a jury of ever present names from film and culture. The prize is awarded

FIPRESCI-jury

This jury consits of three film critics picked by the international association of film critics; FIPRESCI (Fédération Internationale de la Press Cinématographique). The jury selects one of the films from the competition section Competition as Best Film and also awards honorary prize to one of the remaining 20 films competing.

1 km film

The award of our 1 km film-competetition which each year goes to a young Swedish film maker grants the oppertunity to bring their film making to another level. The scholarship includes technical help in making a short by 1 km 35 mm undeveloped film, free developing and copying, one week renting a 35 mm video camera, sound, studio time but also grafic and special effects. Also the winner is given 100 000 kr by the Swedish Film Institute.

ifestival

The prize is awarded to a short from the ifestival section. The films are shown online for the duration of the Festival and the winner is decided by the audience who votes online.
